How did you get started in direct selling?
Direct selling always seemed like a great idea to me but it didn't become a solution for me until I found a reputable company whose product I felt I could truly stand behind. JOCKEY Person To Person turned out to be the Perfect Fit. As a mother of 3 young children I had a strong conviction to show my children especially my daughters that we should strive to realize our potential and not allow an employer or anyone to set limits on who we can be or what we can achieve.
What's the biggest challenge you've overcome in your business?
One of the biggest challenge I've had is inviting others to join my team. I had a hard time finding the right words and approach. I felt I could come off as insincere or manipulative. I found once I began exploring and focusing on others needs instead of my own, sharing the opportunity was like breathing! Within a week of that realization I met my first team member!
Why did you join MLMBlackwoman.com? What do you like the most about this site?
I found out about British Hill through the Mind Aware campaign. I scrolled through the list of "Expert Panelist" and when I saw a woman like me I knew I had to learn more about her and her story. Being one of the few Women of Color in my company it is encouraging to know and hear from women like me who are also blazing the Direct Sales trail. I love the weekly tidbits like videos and blogs and affirmations. Its motivating and keeps me going when things get hard!
What suggestions do you have for new and "old" members of this community?
For anyone who is new to this industry I would say the fire of your "WHY" should be so intense that it burns up every no, every negative experience, every horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day! (can you tell I have young kids? :)
If that fire goes out, find someone else who has it, ask them for a light and NEVER GIVE UP!
